Corporate Accountant / New York

To specialize in business accounting and maintain an organization’s financial records to ensure compliancy with laws, regulations and the organization’s policies. This position reports directly to Director of Finance and General Manager. Corporate accountant will work with different departments to ensure proper reporting of revenues and associated costs. Scope of work includes day-to-day transactions including reports, monthly close, ensuring accuracy of P&L for two entities. Much of the work of corporate accountant is used internally to help executives make financial decisions for the organization.
•Perform comprehensive accounting activities to maintain a complete and accurate general ledger which include accounts reconciliation, documenting financial transactions, recognizing revenues, and various other accounting statements and reports;
•Assist in facilitating the month-end close process by preparing complete and accurate journal entries, reviewing, completing and understanding all assigned month-end and year-end close functions;
•Prepares monthly P&L statements and variance analysis for two entities;
•Distributes expenditures and receipts, performs full cycle of accounts receivables and accounts payables;
•Reviews, investigates and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports;
•Prepares, understands and analyzes cost reports, such as weekly payroll cost report;
•Prepares daily Flash Report to reflect revenues for four or more revenue streams, and to track/compare performance to approved budget;
•Assist in formulating, implementing and maintaining accounting policies and internal procedures;
•Proactively identify issues and areas for improvement, establish efficiencies and enhanced reporting/analytics;
•Complete ad hoc projects and analyses as directed by management.
Qualifications, Skills and Characteristics – Required
•Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance;
•3+ years experience with significant accounting responsibilities;
•Ability to work independently without supervision;
•Must have F&B Operations Accounting background
•Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, demonstrate a “can-do” positive attitude;
•Excellent communication skills-verbal and written;
•Ability to meet deadlines;
•Proficiency in Quickbooks, excellent skills in MS Excel and Word. Advanced knowledge in Excel understanding concepts of databases, filtering data, use of mathematical, logical, statistical and financial functions.
•Payroll knowledge including federal and state requirements, taxes and benefits;
•Multitasking and ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment
